Receptor for TNFSF6/FASLG. The adapter molecule FADD recruits caspase8 to the activated receptor. The resulting deathinducing signaling complex (DISC) performs caspase8 proteolytic activation which initiates the subsequent cascade of caspases (aspartatespecific cysteine proteases) mediating apoptosis. FASmediated apoptosis may have a role in the induction of peripheral tolerance, in the antigenstimulated suicide of mature Tcells, or both (By similarity).
